Origins In the beginning Bob Martin era Tom Brown Evolution New Leaders Keeping It There Pipe Band Factory An important factor in the band‘s ability to maintain its presence in the top grade has been the continuity of players in the band. Some of the grade 1 members have played with Boghall for around 25 years. New players joining the Grade 1 band, either from the Grade 2 and Juvenile bands or from bands outwith the organisation, are able to draw on the vast experience of these players and quickly appreciate what it takes to perform the “Boghall way“. It is also significant that the majority of people who join the band seem to stay, only leaving through work or family commitments. This helps a great deal in maintaining continuity and achieving consistent performances from year to year. The band‘s drum corps have also been incredibly successful throughout the years, winning the Grade 1 World title for drums on 4 occasions and have also won every other major title many times. In addition to this, Gordon Brown - the current Leading Drummer - is the reigning World Solo Drumming Champion and the band‘s Drum Major, John Noble, has been crowned World Champion Drum Major six times.
