Bathgate Highland Games

The West Lothian Highland Games on Saturday 26th May saw a glorious day of sunshine and some great performances from the bands. The Novice band had two strong performances, the first earning them a solid 3rd place in the Novice Grade, before playing up in the Juvenile Grade with their latest competition medley. This second performance allowed some of the more senior members of the Novice band to gain experience at a higher level and was clearly a worthwhile exercise as they earned a further 3rd place.

Welcome to our new website!

Welcome to the brand new Boghall and Bathgate website. 2012 marks an exciting year for the organisation as we celebrate our 40th birthday! We have a variety of events to look forward to from our regular competing commitments to the biggest pipe band concert of the year which is aptly named, ‘Forte’. With that in mind we felt it was important for us to develop a new, vibrant website through which we can communicate with the vast reaches of the pipe band fraternity.

40th anniversary dinner

Friday 4th May saw the band gather with members past and present, guests, friends and supporters to celebrate our 40th Anniversary with a black tie event at the Hilcroft Hotel in Whitburn. We had a great night which started with Ali Scougall piping in the top table before being treated to a number of fantastic speeches beginning with local MSP and Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs, Fiona Hyslop. We were all thoroughly entertained by Fiona’s speech and I think everybody was impressed by Fiona’s in depth knowledge of both the Boghall and Bathgate organisation and the pipe band world in general. It’s good to know our culture is being well looked after at the top!
