Boghall Soloists Star at Kingdom Thistle!

A week past Saturday saw a number of our soloists head across the Forth to the now well established Kingdom Thistle solo contest in Lochgelly. With some excellent results already this season at events such as the Lothian and Borders contest a few weeks ago, many were looking to build on a great start to their season and they did not disappoint.

Great start to season at L+B Solos and Mini Bands!

Saturday 29th March saw Boghall and Bathgate start their 2014 competition season in great form at the Lothian and Borders branch solo and mini band contest.

Boghall Novice win Cowal to take Champion of Champions title!

Saturday 31st August saw the final major championship of the 2013 season and was the last time for the forseeable future that there will be a major held at the historic Cowal Gathering. With both the Novice and Grade 1 bands having had very strong seasons, both remained in contention for the band and drumming Champion of Champions titles and as such there was a great deal at stake for both bands.

Both bands continue fine form at Forres!

Last weekend saw both of our bands in competitive action at the European Championships at Forres. Given the distance involved, we elected to travel up on the Friday in preparation for the contest the next day. After excellent results at the first championship of the season with the Novice band lifting the British Championships and the Grade 1 band finishing 2nd, both bands were very keen to build on their strong start to the season.

Boghall and Bathgate star in Canada!

On Tuesday 11th June a group of 44 musicians left Edinburgh and began a 10 hour journey to Toronto. Despite a slight hiccup with two of our overseas members missing their connecting flights from Frankfurt and Amsterdam and one bag and one drum not turning up in Canada, everyone was hugely excited to arrive in Ontario. We were met by our hosts from the Cobourg Highland Games Committee at the airport and it was immediately apparent that they had taken great care to ensure our every need would be met during our stay.
