Grade 1 British Drum Corps Champions 2012!

Saturday 30th June saw the return of the British Championships at Annan for the third year in a row, with the Grade 1 band winning the Grade 1 drumming title and the band finishing in 4th place overall despite dealing with the only spell of rain that fell all day in the lead up to their performance!

Wine Tasting sees launch of Boghall Wine Club

Boghall and Bathgate began their latest fundraising venture with the launch of brand new Wine Club with a fantastic wine tasting event hosted at the Mercat Bar by Grade 1 snare drummer and Vice President, Alan Irvine.

Novice Band entertains Holyrood and Hollywood Stars!

Members of the Novice Juvenile Band had a fantastic opportunity last week when they were invited to play at a prestigious event at Edinburgh Castle to promote the launch of the new Pixar animated film, Brave. This was a private event which saw guests from the Scottish Government mixing with Hollywood stars including Robbie Coltrane, Kelly MacDonald and Kevin McKidd.

Bathgate Highland Games

The West Lothian Highland Games on Saturday 26th May saw a glorious day of sunshine and some great performances from the bands. The Novice band had two strong performances, the first earning them a solid 3rd place in the Novice Grade, before playing up in the Juvenile Grade with their latest competition medley. This second performance allowed some of the more senior members of the Novice band to gain experience at a higher level and was clearly a worthwhile exercise as they earned a further 3rd place.

Scottish Pipe Band Championships 2012

The 2012 season got fully underway with the first major championship of the year, The Scottish Championships held at Levengrove Park in Dumbarton. Despite a week of miserable weather, the weather on the day was dry and the temperature even managed to sneak into double figures by the afternoon.
