Lothian and Borders Solo and Mini Band contest 2012

The 2012 competition season got underway on the 24th of March with the annual Lothian and Borders Solo and Mini Band contest which was held at The James Young High School in Livingston for the first time. This was a great opportunity for the Novice and Juvenile bands to get their first taste of competition experience and also allowed a lot of the individual members the opportunity to show just how much they have improved over the winter with a wide array of solo events on offer.

The Novice band put in two good showings in a strong Novice Juvenile Grade and will take a lot of confidence from both performances. The Juvenile band were also pleased with their efforts, taking a first place in the Juvenile Grade from close rivals, George Watson’s College. This was particularly pleasing for the band, especially given that this was their first public airing of an entirely new competition medley for this season.  Hopefully this is a marker of good things to come as we approach the start of the outdoor season!

In the solo contests there were multiple prize winners across the grades which are listed below. Well done to everyone involved.
